The scheduled events at Hosenji Onsen

We will introduce events held at Hosenji Onsen. We will hold “Firefly Festival” in June, “Star Festival” and “Summer Festival” in July, and “Amateur-play Festival” and “Moon-viewing Festival” in September. Independent of ages, all people can enjoy these events.

In the Machida basin, Genji fireflies start to fly at the end of May, and other kinds of fireflies, for example, Heike fireflies, start to fly at the end of June or the beginning of July. Every Saturday in June, we hold various events at a special stage in an indoor parking space in front of Kokonoe Inn, including folk entertainments and performances of popular songs. Also, you can watch fireflies near the stage.

Event to mark the start of waterfall season in Ryumon Waterfall

Ryumon Waterfall is in a garden of Ryumon Temple. It is a two-tiered waterfall, and the upper step is 20 meters in height and 40 meters in width with deep basin of a waterfall. The lower step fallen from the basin is a large waterfall about 50 meters in height. In summer, young people of children enjoy plummeting down this waterfall, shouting with pleasure. This is a common sight in the summer here.

Summer Festival is held every year at a large suspension bridge in Kokonoe.You can enjoy performances and playing in a band on stage. Also, you can participate in the games of scissors-paper-rock, quoits, and a burger eating contest. The whole family can enjoy them together. We sell deep-fried chicken, mini pork rice bowl, and grilled Bungo-Beef.

A slogan of this event is, “Fascinating you! Making you laugh! Making you cry!” Some hotel owners, shop owners, farmers, and salaried workers in Hosenji, gathered because they want to revitalize this region, perform a play. A policeman makes a guest appearance. The event is head at a special stage in front of Kokonoe Inn. Admission is free of charge, but we welcome your wrapped offering of money. Please spend joyful time at Hosenji.

At a special stage in front of Kokonoe Inn, you can appreciate a performing art peculiar to a locality and a guitar performance. Young local priests play Japanese court music. Hostesses of local inns take dishes, so guests at the venue taste these dishes.
